| Professor Patrick Carr, qualified in both nursing and
law, is an expert on the interface between health and social care and the law. His
experience includes many years practice, teaching on medico-legal topics, successfully
representing clients in tribunals, providing expert reports, and giving oral eveidence in
various courts under cross-examination. Formerly Head of Nursing Studies at Manchester Polytechnic (1975-1986), Professor Carr has also been Chief Executive of the Registered Nursing Home Association (1986-1994), which he left to found CNHS - The Quality Care and Nursing Home Service. He is Past Vice President of the European Association for Directors of Residential Care Homes for the Elderely, and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine, and of the Association of Lawyers and Legal Advisors. The author of several books and many papers, Professor Carr was Project Director to the United Nations-sponsored research project on quality assurance in long-term care at Florida State University. |
